Pope Francis has made this year the Year of Saint Joseph on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the declaration of Saint Joseph as patron saint of the universal Church.
Since our origins, we have honoured and venerated Saint Joseph as "the first patron of the work"; P. Cestac never fails to recall:
"How striking and multiplied are the signs of protection
and great interest that Saint Joseph never ceases to bestow on us." (L, 1865)
And he recounts one of his interventions:
"I had gone to Notre Dame de Betharram to prepare the work of the Constitutions.
From Saturday until Wednesday, not a single word could fall from my pen.
On Wednesday, I felt inspired to address Saint Joseph.
I said Holy Mass at his altar, and when I returned to my room, I took up my pen
and, as if in a single stroke, I reached the end of the work without having the least difficult." (L, 1860)
Let us believe with Father Cestac:
"Never will we invoke her without feeling the effects of her powerful protection." (Marian Itinerary)
